A lengthy survey of English poetry from the sixteenth century to the late eighteenth century. The first volumes is devoted to the different genres of poetry, the second is chronological with sketches of many of the poets, while the third volume consists of translations with facing French and English texts. All in all, a substantial and an uncommon work. Old library labels at foot of spines, one label sadly chipped, otherwise a very good set.
