A collection of Hazlitt's dramatic criticisms from 1814-1818. There are several pieces about Edmund Kean and his performances in a variety of Shakespeare's plays. The first issue of the 'View of the English Stage' is an uncommon book, part of the edition being transferred three years later to another publisher, John Warren, and reissued with a new title-page. Book-plate of William Ramsay, Professor of Humanity at Glasgow University. One page advertisements. Some leaves foxed, otherwise a fine copy.
