London, Simpkin, Marshall and Co. N.D. [circa 1840.] First edition. Original dark blue, blind-stamped cloth. 12mo in eights. pp. viii. 104. Not in the British Library Catalogue. Sloper spent most of his life in naval and military service overseas, enduring much hardship. Eventually, he returned to England, settling at Hitchin. The poem "The Dacoit" describes the pirates of the River Ganges and their exploits which are based on fact. A very good copy.
