Author's presentation copies to the critic, John Skelton. The first item provides a bibliography of Tennyson's writing as well as a discussion of various readings of the poems and a listing of Tennyson portraits. A supplementary chapter was published in an edition of fifty copies in 1875. The second item was the first in a series of five revised and extended editions by Shepherd - see Wise 662. The address panel of the original posting envelope from Shepherd to Skelton tipped in. In very good condition.
