BOONE (James Shergold).

Men and Things in 1823: A Poem in Three Epistles, With Notes.

London, Hatchard and Son. 1823. First edition. Original drab boards. 8vo. pp. vii, [1], 156. A poemdevoted to political events at home and abroad that illustrates Boone's admiration for Canning. A pencil note on the title-page states that the author was House Tutor to W. S. Fane, the book's owner, at Charterhouse from 1830-1832. Boone went on to become first vicar of St. John's Paddington where he remained until his death in 1859. Spine rubbed and worn, some foxing, old catalogue entry pasted to the spine.
