George Burder, the editor, was a congregationalist minister, who began his life as an engraver. He went on to be instrumental in forming the Religious Tract Society. His edition of "Pilgrim's Progress," first published in 1786 and the first to be divided into chapters, was often reprinted. Ownership signature of Joseph Le Fanu, the grandfather of Sheridan Le Fanu. Rebacked, some browning, otherwise a very good copy. Only the 1786 edition listed in ESTC.
