The Poison-Flower, A Phantasy, in Three Scenes, (suggested by Hawthorne's "Rappacini's [sic] Daughter").

London, "Nassau Steam Press" Limited. 1891. First edition. Original light green wrappers. 8vo. pp. 24. A very rare privately printed verse-play set in Padua in the middle-ages. The inspiration, Hawthorne's short story "Rappaccini's Daughter", was published in 1844 in "Mosses from an Old Manse". Corrections by Todhunter in eleven places, mainly consisting of changes of lines or stage directions. The play was first produced at the Vaudeville Theatre in 15 June 1891. It was never published separately again, but was reprinted with other pieces in "Isolt of Ireland" in 1927. One copy only listed in COPAC (BL), two copies in NUC. Wrappers creased with a short split on the spine and browned at the edges.
