Later half tan calf, raised bands by Maclaren and Macniven, Edinburgh. 12mo. pp. vi, 316. Presentation copy: "To Miss Elizabeth M. Darling with kind love from the once young, but now old Authoress [initial illegible] MacDiarmid 24th February 1877." The author was in her sixteenth year when she wrote this story which was inspired by the heroic deed of Grace Darling who with her father helped save survivors from the stricken 'Forfarshire' when it sank having broken in two on rocks off the Farne Islands. Fore-edge of lower cover bumped, minor marks to upper cover. Very scarce: only an undated edition listed at the National Library of Scotland in COPAC (author anonymous).
