First edition. The author was an Italian Jesuit of the Province of Malabar. He had returned to Rome himself to report to the papacy on the revolt of the St. Thomas Christians of the Serra. His report on Madura, while lengthy, is not generally informative except for its commentary on the ‘superstitions’ and legends of the region (Lach & Van Kley, 3:1, p. 382).
