Lubecae, impensis Joh. Wiedemeyeri, 1709. 8vo. xxxvi + 272; + xxiv + 273–352 pp. + 1 folding woodcut plate. Originally published at Stockholm in 1704–5 (vol. 1 as a dissertation with G. Krook as respondent) this is the second edition. A third edition appeared in 1723. Besides his activities as head of the diocese of Ingermanland, Bergius found time to make considerable scholarly contributions to the fields of Russian language and civilization. The chief result of his Russian research was his dissertation, formally discussed and defended in Uppsala University, on the state of the Russian church and religion.
