Title printed in red & black with engraved device, engraved vignette and initial on p. 1, woodcut initials and vignettes, 3 engraved illustrations in text. Contemporary full vellum, spine lettered as title, some occasional browning. First edition of the travel journal of Jacobus Tollius, philologist and alchemist (1626–96), edited posthumously by his friend Henr. Chr. Hennin. On his journey in 1687, Tollius had visited libraries and museums in Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, Wolfenbüttel, Prague, Vienna, and Buda. The frontispiece shows travellers dismounting to inspect ancient marbles, the plates depict objects in collections and Turkish inscriptions, Buda & Pest uva are amongst the views.
