The portfolio (37 x 25.5 cm) contains a coloured map in 8 sections. Text volumes sewn as issued in printed wrappers (back wrapper to vol. 1 missing), entirely uncut. Atlas as issued in printed paper portfolio. Hedin’s Third Expedition, 1906–8. First edition. It was translated from the Swedish ms. by J. P. an der Kais. With contributions by K. V. Zetterstéen, N. Ekholm, A. H. Byström, B. Asklund, O. Dietrich, and K. A. Grönvall. The work contains the results of Hedin’s cartographic work carried out in his travels through Persia. The most valuable part is, however, the gazetteer of Persian place names, “Zur Bedeutung der Persischen Namen”, by K. V. Zetterstéen (vol. 2, pp. 275–380).
