Contemporary black calf, gilt borders on covers, spine richly gilt. First edition. The dedication to Hatton (vi pp.) bound at end. A few copies of this edition contain an additional leaf (not present here) bearing a dedication to the Royal Society signed by Boccone. Paolo Boccone (later Silvio) (1633–1704) was botanist of the Grand-Duke of Tuscany and professor of botany at Padua. Pritzel 859. Wing B-3385. Hunt 329.
