Shakespeare in Thai King Vajiravudh, who succeeded King Chulalongkorn in 1910, was educated at Oxford and Sandhurst. In his writings he explored many ideas in several literary forms, and he “added to Siamese literature a wholly new genre, the spoken, Western-style play ” (David K. Wyatt).
