Et se vend a Paris, chez Daniel Horthemels, 1690. 12mo.xxxvi + 244 + iv pp. Contemporary full calf, spine in compartments, rubbed, joints slightly defective; old stamp on title-page. First edition. A second edition appeared in 1692 and a third in 1694. This work by the Jesuit Pierre Joseph d’Orleans, which deals with the “Revolution of 1688” in Siam and the career of Constantine Phaulkon, was based on the published writings and unpublished letters of Guy Tachard. D’Orleans makes a martyr of Paulkon, the Greek adventurer and minister, who had worked so closely with the French. Cordier, BI, I, col. 959 records also a ?simultaneous issue with different title.
