Piazza et Cie, 1898; first French edition after an Arabic heroic poem; one of 10 deluxe copies (total edition 300), printed on special grand velin d'Arches paper; circa 150 leaves with 141 woodcuts by Etienne Dinet enhanced with hand-coloring or pochoir, including 5 full-page plates. This copy with two additional suites of 141 hors-texte woodcuts each: one suite of colored plates on Japon and the 2nd suite of plates in black on China paper. The total number of woodcuts is 423, of which 286 are hors-texte. Bound by Emile Carayon (1843-1909) into two volumes: volume 1 is the regular ill'd book, volume 2 contains the suites. Volume 1 in an outstanding Art Nouveau signed Master binding by Carayon created in the complicated and exceptionally beautiful ”cuir-ciselé” style (invented by Marius Michel, further developed by Charles Meunier and Carayon); full brown Levant morocco with inlaid wooden plaque front panel, engraved and hand-colored, closely following Dinet's oriental design; spine with 5 raised bands; moiré silk doublures with an exceptionally beautiful gilt design; all edges gilt; in suede lined slipcase. Volume 2 in half morocco and marled paper over boards, no slipcase. The very handsome original wrappers bound in. Volume 1: 14 x 10.5 in. (35 x 26 cm); volume 2: 13 x 10.5 in. (33 x 26 cm). Aside from insignificant imperfections on the slipcase and a few very minor fox marks on one edge of Volume 2, this set is in excellent condition. References: Monod 309; Carteret IV,45.

We provide unconditional guarantee towards authenticity of all purchased items for three years from purchased date. With our extensive connections around the world, we could search for books in our specialty and bid at American and European auctions for a small fee. Your information stays private with us, as we do not sell, trade or give away customer information. For security reasons, we keep customer credit card information for only one week.

Returns
customer can send back anything purchased from us within 3 days of receipt, no questions asked, in exactly the same condition, insured. Customer pays s&h both ways. There is a 3% restocking charge for returns; however, the refund is full if we had significantly misdescribed the item.

Payments must always be in advance. North American institutions could be billed. We accept Discover, VISA, Master Card and American Express for smaller orders. We also accept payments by checks, money orders or direct wire transfers.

Prices are subject to change without notice and are net to all. We do not offer trade discounts, and we do not negotiate our prices regardless of the number of books in the order.

Shipping & Handling cost is always extra and always billed to our own carrier accounts. Customer is advised to email us for a shipping quote before sending payment. We pack very carefully, always protecting the corners and edges of books; we make sure that customer gets the book in the same condition as it leaves our premises.

Domestic orders are usually shipped with UPS Ground insured one business day after receipt of payment. The cost of shipping of an art book of average size and weight is normally $9-$13. Shipments on the same day could be arranged for TN&T Express, UPS or FedEx delivery overnight or 2nd day.

Non-US orders are usually shipped with UPS (at our discounted rates) or postal Priority Mail, delivered in 5-7 business days anywhere in the world. All shipments should be insured, as we will not be financially responsible if an uninsured parcel is lost. Shipments will only be billed to our own carrier accounts.

We do not ship with the postal Media Mail unless the order is for a very inexpensive book.

Illinois State residents must pay the sales tax of 7.25%. Illinois dealers must submit a copy of the Certificate of Registration with a valid Resale Number.

In business since February 1986, we buy and sell quality art reference books of American, European and Latin-American artists. Our stock of about 5,000 volumes consists of rare, out-of-print and a few in-print art reference books, i.e. catalogues raisonnés, artist monographs, important catalogues of museum exhibitions, along with some literary first editions and original prints. Our main specialty are modern illustrated books, or "livres d'artistes", which are significant literary works illustrated with original lithographs, engravings and hand-colored or pochoir-painted plates by artists representing French Symbolism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Dada, Surrealism, German Expressionism, Russian Avant-Garde, American Abstract Expressionism and other modern art movements.

As a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America (ABAA) and International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB) with a proven track record of knowledge, experience and integrity, we follow the code of ethics required by these organizations.
