Paris: Le Cent-Une, 1931, first Morisot edition, one of 111 numbered exemplars with 6 drypoint etchings after drawings by Berthe Morisot (engraved by Demetrius Galanis); 228 leaves with texts by Stephane Mallarmé and Paul Valery, printed on Holland van Gelder paper. This likely unique copy contains 2 extra suites, on Japon Imperial and Japon Ancien, each suite with 6 etchings after Morisot and 5 original etchings by Berthe Morisot, for a total of 28 hors-texte etchings by and after Morisot, 3 printed in rich sanguine (the etchings are: ”Le Jeune Fille au Chat”; ”Berthe Morisot et Julie Manet”; ”Portrait de Julie Manet”; ”Seated nude”; ”Jardin de Mézy or Bord du lac”; ”Les Canards”; ”Bateau sur l'Etang” or ”Le Bassin du Mesnil”; ”L'Enfant, cygne et canard”; ”Jeune Fille au repose”. In a signed janseniste navy-blue 1/2 morocco binding by L. R. Houades; with top edge and spine lettering gilt and 4 raised bands; original wrappers and backstrip preserved and bound-in; housed in a matching slipcase; overall size 12 x 9.5 x 1.75 in. (30 x 24 x 4.5 cm). In excellent condition, no foxing, no tears, the images with very strong, bright impressions. Provenance: 1) Madame Gautrat (name imprinted on colophon); 2) Raymonde Dubois collection (bookplate); 3) Jean Jacobs collection (bookplate). References: Monod 7678; Carteret IV, p.262. The grand-niece of the great Fragonard and wife of Edouard Manet's brother, Berthe Morisot, the highly influential Impressionist artist, was a close friend of Stephane Mallarmé (he tutored her daughter) and part of the circle that redefined the entire art history. She exhibited with Renoir, Degas and Cezanne on equal terms.

We provide unconditional guarantee towards authenticity of all purchased items for three years from purchased date. With our extensive connections around the world, we could search for books in our specialty and bid at American and European auctions for a small fee. Your information stays private with us, as we do not sell, trade or give away customer information. For security reasons, we keep customer credit card information for only one week.
Returns
customer can send back anything purchased from us within 3 days of receipt, no questions asked, in exactly the same condition, insured. Customer pays s&h both ways. There is a 3% restocking charge for returns; however, the refund is full if we had significantly misdescribed the item.
Payments must always be in advance. North American institutions could be billed. We accept Discover, VISA, Master Card and American Express for smaller orders. We also accept payments by checks, money orders or direct wire transfers.
Prices are subject to change without notice and are net to all. We do not offer trade discounts, and we do not negotiate our prices regardless of the number of books in the order.
Shipping & Handling cost is always extra and always billed to our own carrier accounts. Customer is advised to email us for a shipping quote before sending payment. We pack very carefully, always protecting the corners and edges of books; we make sure that customer gets the book in the same condition as it leaves our premises.
Domestic orders are usually shipped with UPS Ground insured one business day after receipt of payment. The cost of shipping of an art book of average size and weight is normally $9-$13. Shipments on the same day could be arranged for TN&T Express, UPS or FedEx delivery overnight or 2nd day.
Non-US orders are usually shipped with UPS (at our discounted rates) or postal Priority Mail, delivered in 5-7 business days anywhere in the world. All shipments should be insured, as we will not be financially responsible if an uninsured parcel is lost. Shipments will only be billed to our own carrier accounts.
We do not ship with the postal Media Mail unless the order is for a very inexpensive book.
Illinois State residents must pay the sales tax of 7.25%. Illinois dealers must submit a copy of the Certificate of Registration with a valid Resale Number.

Our stock of about 5,000 volumes consists of rare, out-of-print and a few in-print art reference books, i.e. catalogues raisonnés, artist monographs, important catalogues of museum exhibitions, along with some literary first editions and original prints. Our main specialty are modern illustrated books, or "livres d'artistes", which are significant literary works illustrated with original lithographs, engravings and hand-colored or pochoir-painted plates by artists representing French Symbolism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Dada, Surrealism, German Expressionism, Russian Avant-Garde, American Abstract Expressionism and other modern art movements.
