Index. Illustrated with two engraved frontispieces, 1 map, and facsimile autograph of Pizarro. In original gilt and blindstamped brown cloth. These famous two volumes are just one of thirteen American books listed in The Grolier Club's 100 Books Famous in English Literature. The text block is mostly clean, with scattered and occasional spotting and stains. Otherwise no other marks to pages. The outer boards are faded and clean, with strong gilt letters on the otherwise sun-faded spine.

About Us

The owner, Richard Murian, has a BA in History from the University of California Davis; a MLS from the University of California, Berkeley; a Masters of Divinity from Trinity in Biblical Studies and a MA from California State University, Sacramento in the History of the American West. My further graduate studies were in Renaissance and Reformation studies with an emphasis on Italian humanism. My bookselling career began in 1970 under my own name but chose the name Alcuin Books in 1979 a name that has reflected my interest and philosophy. I have had open stores in Phoenix and since 2003 we have been in Scottsdale, Arizona.
