Hart to Ronald Reagan, virtually anyone who wanted the finest crafted saddles called on Edward Bohlin. Besides his beautiful saddlework, there are examples of his jewelry, sculpture, etc. Whether it was Charlie Russell who knew him in the early 1920's or Clayton Moore [the Lone Ranger], he was certainly the King of Saddle design and workmanship. A fine copy in original cloth with a very good dust jacket protected by mylar.

About Us

The owner, Richard Murian, has a BA in History from the University of California Davis; a MLS from the University of California, Berkeley; a Masters of Divinity from Trinity in Biblical Studies and a MA from California State University, Sacramento in the History of the American West. My further graduate studies were in Renaissance and Reformation studies with an emphasis on Italian humanism. My bookselling career began in 1970 under my own name but chose the name Alcuin Books in 1979 a name that has reflected my interest and philosophy. I have had open stores in Phoenix and since 2003 we have been in Scottsdale, Arizona.
