Bergman, Torbern (praes.) & Schedin, Anders (resp.)

Chemisk afhandling om järnmalms proberande på våta vägen, med den vidtberömde philosophiske facultetens samtycke, til almänt ompröfvande framgifven af praeses Mag. Torb. Bergman, chemiae professore och riddare af kongl. Wasa-orden, samt respondens Anders Schedin, uplänning ausc. 1 kongl. maj:ts och Riksens bergs-Collegio. Uti Gustavianska Lärosalen d. 24 Maji 1777.

"Uppsala, Joh. Edman, 1777. First edition. (6), 14 pp. 4:o (18,5 x 15 cm). Disbound. With a marbled paper spine. Insignificant stains on the first and last three leaves. Very fine. Torbern Bergman (1735-1784), member of the Swedish Academy of Sciences and professor of chemistry and pharmacology at Uppsala University, was an exceptionally-gifted scientist who made important contributions to the study of physics, astronomy, geology, mineralogy and, above all, analytical chemistry. Dissertatio chemica de analysi aquarum frigidarum ... (1778), Bergman's thesis on quantitative analysis by ""våta vägen"" (the wet way), is widely known. Published a year earlier but seemingly less well known is the dissertation offered here, which deals in some detail with the determination of iron content using the Bergman method."
