Small 4to. 64pp, b&w frontis and illustrated throughout (4 by LAM), decorated endpapers. Original cloth-backed papered boards, decorated with waratah motif (colour) on the upper, singing frog on the lower. Head and tail of the spine, and the corners, a little rubbed, a few light spots of discolouration on the lower board but the illustrated covers very clean. Owner's name/address writ small at lower corner of verso of front free endpaper, otherwise an exceptionally clean copy. Without a doubt, the nicest copy we have seen. Scarce. ISBN ***The verses first appeared in the author's Grandmamma's Verse Book for Young Australia (1878, unillustrated).
