First edition, 3 volumes 4to; 220p.; 1 engraved title page, 2 frontispices, 2 full-page plates and 212 steel engravings on 106 pages. Contemporary red half-morocco binding with corners (Niedrée), gilt decorated spines, marbled boards and endpapers, top edge gilt. Spines very slightly faded, a very fine set with no trace of foxing. A nice topographical work on England’s lake and mountain scenery, with attractive steel engravings, all with tissue guards. A lovely set and a fine example of steel plate engraving, introduced in the 1820’s.
