London Longmans 1960 First Edition 8vo Finely bound by the Bayntun-Riviere bindery in half crimson morocco, red cloth sides, spine with five raised bands, decorative centes, lettered and dated in gilt, hand marbled endleaves, top edge gilt. Storey's acclaimed first novel follows the rise of Yorkshireman Arthur Machin from factory worker to professional Rugby League player and his subsequent downfall. Richard Harris gave an Oscar-nominated performance as Machin in the 1963 classic British film.
