Illustrated with Maps and Copper-plates. 10 volumes. 8vo. [219 x 132 x 380 mm]. Bound in contemporary tree calf, the covers with a gilt flower and leaf roll border. Smooth spines divided into six panels by a gilt pallet and fillets, lettered in the second on a red goatskin label and numbered in the fourth on a circualr green label laid on a red label with gilt trophy tools at the corners, the third panel with a large bird on a branch at the centre and the others with a large trophy tool, surrounded by the smaller trophy tools,the edges of the boards and turn-ins tooled with a gilt roll, marbled endleaves, yellow edges. (Head of the upper joint on vol.8 slightly cracked, chip to headcap on vol 9, a little rubbed). An exceptionally handsome set. Armorial bookplate, signed Ann Darrien.
