Engraved frontispiece portrait and folding map. 4 volumes. 8vo. 469pp; 427pp; 440pp; 460pp. Bound in contemporary half brown calf, marbled sides, the spines divided into five panels by thick bands, lettered in the second and fourth on black goatskin labels, the other panels tooled in gilt, plain endleaves, mottled edges. (Upper headcap on vol.1 chipped, small repair to head of upper joint on vol.4, joints slightly worn, some minor rubbing). The blank head of the frontispiece has been affected by damp and there is a single wormhole at the head of the opening leaves in vol.1, but it is a good copy. Label of Williams, Bookseller and Circulating Library, Cheltenham in each volume and early ink signature of William Adamson at the head of each title-page.
