Engraved frontispiece portrait by Holloway after Reynolds and 7 plates. 4 volumes. 8vo. [iii], vi-viii, 118, [2], 273 pp; iv, 470 pp; [1]f, [i], x-xvi, [iii], vi-viii, 476 pp; [1]f, [i], iv-vii, [i], 468 pp. Bound in contemporary calf, rebacked with red and green goatskin labels and the remaining four panels tooled with a gilt floral centre, new endleaves, original sprinkled edges (corners repaired). Bound without the half titles and in vol.3 the Contents has been bound before the Preface. Occasional spotting or light foxing but a good copy, neatly rebacked and repaired. This set came from the library at Woburn Abbey (from where I bought it), but there are now no signs of provenance.
