Early Impressions, or Moral and Instructive Entertainment for Children. In Prose and Verse

London [by Ibotson & Palmer for] J. Hatchard and Son 1828 First Edition 12 lithographed plates after Dighton. 12mo. xiv, [ii], 215 pp. Mid-nineteenth century half dark blue calf, cloth sides, smooth spine divided into six panels by a gilt double fillet and a blind pallet, lettered in the second panel on a red goatskin label, blue endleaves, uncut edges. With the half-title. The pages are entirely uncut and have been rather roughly opened in places with a few short marginal tears. There is some occasional foxing and a few minor stains. The lithographed plates are charming. A book of the same title by Walter Stirling was published in c.1820, but the present work is anonymous. Gift inscription, dated 1853, on the front flyleaf. The original bookseller's label ("Sold by R. Deck, Printer, Bookseller &c. Cornhill, Ipswich") has been saved and is tipped onto the flyleaf.
