[5]ff, 218pp. Bound in contemporary half calf, marbled sides, smooth spine divided into six panels by double gilt fillets, lettered in the second panel, the others tooled in gilt and blind, plain endleaves, lightly sprinkled edges. (Slightly rubbed). Lacking the half-title? Occasional light spotting but a very good copy. The work is rare, with only the British Library copy listed on COPAC. The "Letter... to his Son at the University" was first published in 1787. Richard Graves was the rector of Claverton, a village just outside of Bath and now home to the American Museum. He also ran a school at the Rectory, which was attended by Thomas Robert Malthus, and was a poet and novelist, best known for The Spiritual Quixote.
