Engraved frontispiece, woodcut vignette on the title and woodcuts throughout the text. 8vo. [220 x 139 x 38 mm]. viii, 563 pp. Bound c.1900 in half red goatskin, red cloth sides. The spine divided into six panels with gilt compartments, lettered in the second panel and dated at the foot, the other panels with scroll centre and corner tools, marbled endleaves, top edge gilt, with the original cloth spine bound in at the end. All sports and pastimes are covered, in alphabetical order. The game of cricket has just over two pages and a woodcut, though the entry begins "An insect that chirps about ovens or fire-places; a sport". A very good copy in a handsome binding. With the signature and bookplate of Oliver Collett.
