Folding engraved frontispiece map of the county, folding engraved plan for the draining of the turf bogs, and plate of Weldon'd "Caisson-lock". 8vo. [225 x 142 x 324 mm]. [16], x, [11]-320 pp. Unopened and in the original light blue boards, drab paper spine with a printed paper label. (Some wear to the spine and label chipped). With the half-title but lacking a blank fly-leaf at the end. A fine copy in original condition. First published as a preliminary quarto report in 1794. The author of this survey, one of the best of the series, was a professional farmer from Ashwick Grove, near Shepton Mallet. The final 4pp present a separate "Description of Robert Weldon's Hydrostatick or Caisson-Lock, which is now building and nearly completed on the Somerset Coal-Canal near Coombe-Hay, about three miles from Bath".
