[1]f, 307pp. Bound in contemporary red goatskin, the covers with a gilt tooled border composed of a dog-tooth roll and a chain roll with a flower in the corners. The spine divided into six panels, lettered in the second and third on green goatskin labels, the others gilt tooled with a large flower at the centre and circles in the corners, the edges of the boards and turn-ins tooled with a gilt roll, marbled endleaves, gilt edges. (A little rubbed, and once rather over-zealously polished). Gaskell 47. On the title the letters "F" and "R" in "Afri" were both damaged. Leaf G2 is a cancel. Occasional light foxing, but a good copy. Early nineteenth century bookplate of the Scottish clan Gordon. With the ownership mark of Edwin Wolf 2nd, and his acquisition note: "Goodspeed's Book Shop Sept. 28, 1940".
