[FAISAL II

(1935-1958, last King of Iraq)] Stunning Menu for his reception and luncheon at Guildhall,

Sir Cuthbert Ackroyd, Lord Mayor, the cover in full colour representing ancient and modern Iraq, from Ur and Assyria to the airport and river steamers, camels and date palms, drawn to give the effect of a tapestry, (signed Ellis d. et s.), inside are a short account of Guildhall and its restoration after the war, the menu, music and reception committee, and a description of the cover, tasselled cord in the colours of Iraq, 8 sides in covers 11¼” x 8¼”, London, 17th July 1956 The young king succeeded on 4th April 1939, not quite four years old. He perished in the fighting between the royalists and General Abdul Karim Kassem, and Iraq became a republic.
