in Russian with translation, thanking them “with all my heart ... for your best wishes and your wonderful present which ... gives me the greatest pleasure”, with his “greetings on the festival and best wishes for health and success in all you do”, 1 side 8vo., attractive printed drawing on verso of villagers in their finest embroidered clothes entering a Russian church in the snow, old lettering in Russian “On Christ’s Nativity!”, [10 Villa Molitor, Paris XVI], 29th December 1952 Andrei Vladimirovich married the great Russian ballerina Matilda Kschessinska, 1872-1971, in 1921, who had been for a while in 1892 the mistress of Nicholas II. Slava was the son of her brother, the actor Joseph Kschessinsky, 1868-1942, who stayed in Russia. Slava’s mother was another famous ballerina, Serafima Alexandrovna Astafieva, 1876-1934. She opened her school at 152 Kings Road, Chelsea, in 1916, and her son married Margot Luck, one of her pupils.
