(Sir Walter Balfour, 1880-1918, 3rd Baronet) Autograph Letter Signed to 'Sir',
regretting he cannot be a steward “at your Festival dinner” but saying “the excellent work ... has my best wishes”, 1 side 8vo., Stopham, Pulborough, 16th October, no date, c. 1910 Both the writer and his father (who died on service) were in the South African War. The 3rd baronet received 6 clasps to the Queen’s and 2 to the King’s medal. He was Military Secretay to the Governor-General of Australia, 1911-1914, was wounded in France, but present at Gallipoli and in Mesopotamia.
