Editor of the English Historical Review, Lecturer in Diplomatic at Oxford 1896-1927), about offprints of Pietro Fedele, who is now “professor of history in the University of Rome. He is my pet child among the young generation of students ... from our Società romana di storia patria”, he has sent for Poole’s latest book without success, adding “What a momentous chapter of history since we last met at Oxford!”, and talks about Poole’s sons and his own son taking part in the war, and his own daughters in the Red Cross, “people who had never dreamt of being soldiers ... have become such able officers, as many of them are, in a few months”, 4 sides 8vo., 9 Via Pio, Rome, 23rd January 1916
