There were 63 ministers of all denominations in Jamaica, each with an average of 5,500 persons to care for. The means at their disposal were wholly inadequate to meet the needs of the situation. Appeals for subscriptions to aid the work of the Society for the Conversion and Religious Instruction and Education of the Negro Slaves.
