AUTOGRAPH ALBUM.
Circa 1820's. 15 leaves of material, 21 blanks & 4 leaves of Index. 4to. Quarter calf, boards, new spine. The album contains 64 examples of different hands and autographs on small slips of paper or envelopes, most mainly stuck in, some loosely inserted. Several pages have been cut up and therefore the album does not contain every thing listed in the index. The autographs include George Canning, the Duke of Portland, Joseph Banks and Lords Sidmouth, Weymouth & Liverpool. The majority are politicians of the day. The literary characters appear to be the ones that have been cut out. There are 3 prints loosely inserted. On the front end paper, the album is signed Elizabeth Pigot April 1821 and underneath Elizabeth Becher Payne 1876.
