La Veuve Duchesne, Libraire ( Temple Du Gout) Paris, 1768. First Edition. Small 8vo. pp xxiv, 432. One volume in 3 parts and alphabetical order. Contemporary brown calf binding. About very good copy with clean calf gilt, marbled end papers, gold patterning on the spine, gilt fireside device on front and rear. Some wear and rubbing at spine, title label sl chipped and indistinct, hinges rubbed and leather a little scratched, text very clean. Medical, culinary and household recipes and advice, some of a superstitious or mystical bent. This edition published anonymously but known to be by Alletz (1705? - 1785.) The British Library has 16 copies of the book published betwen 1768 and 1790 with none earlier than 1768 so this is presumably the first edition.
