Black cloth backed boards. A good copy of this tribute to Marguerite Abbott Barker ( 1883 - 1930 ) pub lished, apparently, by her mother. Sixteen poems by the subject are included, the first under her nom de plume of Allen Abbott, together with obituary pieces from the New York Sunday Times and The New York World. The concluding pages carry extracts from letters of condolence. Marguerite Abbott Barker was the daughter of Charles Stuart Abbott, Vice-President of the Eastman Kodak Company. Upon his d eath she inherited a substantial fortune , a large share of which she devoted to the building of the Greenwich Village Theatre, which opened its doors to the public in 1917. She sold the theatre in 19 29, and plans were drawn up for it to be replaced by the tallest apartment building in the neighbourhood. During the period of her ownership, Marguerite Abbott Barker was responsible for many notable productions, including Eugene O'Neill's first professional appearance, Ile"
