Michel Levy Freres, Paris, 1868. First Edition. Hardback. 8vo. pp 410, issued as volume 2 (but the first volume to be printed) in the first collected edition of Baudelaire. Salon de 1845; Salon de 1846; Le Musee Classique du Bazar Bonne-Nouvelle; Exposition Universelle 1855, Beaux-Arts; Salon de 1859; De lEssence du Rire; and Quelques Caricaturistes Etrangers. Baudelaires art writings were mainly written for periodicals and collected after his death in this work and in L'Art Romantique (1869); only the Salons of 1845 and 1846 had been published previously in book form. Red cloth lettered gilt at the spine bound without wraps, last gathering a little brownerd and sl creased in last few pages, sp sl faded; vg+. Tres bon etat.
