[LEICESTERSHIRE] A MAP OF LEICESTER SHIRE NORTH FROM LONDON.
London : W.H.Toms, 1742 (or later). An attractive mid 18th century map of the county, incorporatinga panel of text giving details of principal towns, market days, Members of Parliament, etc. Originally published by the surveyor, Thomas Badeslade, and the engraver, William Henry Toms (fl.1723-1758), for their "Chorographia Britannia" series (London 1741-1742). Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 151 x 146mm (approx. 6" x 5-3/4"). Two faint spots, otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.
