A vivid account of the author and her cousin’s journey in the footsteps of their grandfather, Colonel Leslie Weir, and grandmother Thyra to Bumthang, capital of Bhutan, in 1930. Colonel Weir was the Political Officer resident in Sikkim from 1928-1932, with responsibility for Sikkim, Tibet and Bhutan. In the course of a distinguished career he had served in Persia, Baluchistan and Kashmir as well as, under Sir Charles Bell, running the British Trade Agency in Gyantse in 1909.
