London. 1905 1st edition. 2 volumes. 230 x 160mm. ppxx,414 & ppxi,426 plus 41 plates (12 coloured, the rest photogravure) & 3 coloured maps (2 single page, 1 extending, this a plan of Lhasa) with 4 full page maps and profuse illustrations in the text. Foxing confined to preliminary and last leaves and not affecting text pages or plates. Close to fine in binding of half burgundy morocco with cloth boards. Edges marbled to match endpapers. Inscribed on the half title page to volume 1 - “Lord Headfort from Perceval Landon”.
