F.A. Brockhaus. Leipzig. 1919 6th German edition. 2 volumes. 230 x 150mm. ppxii,236 & vi,245 + 106 plates & 3 maps (2 folding, 1 extending). Pages browned as usual. Spines a little tanned. A fine copy else in the original decorated paper boards. This edition was abridged from the first German edition of 1899, itself already an abridgment of the Swedish edition of 1898. Later one-volume German editions were further abridged until it was down to 159pp with 1 map. This appears to be the first reappearence of the first of these abridgements, in two volumes again and erroneously described by Aschoff as the ninth edition. See Aschoff 808.
