Folio, pp. [8], with 7 fine engraved plates; titleand text in Dutch and French; a fine copy in contemporary Dutch mottled calf, panelled in gilt, with broad ornamental border and central panel made up of broad floral border with corner fleurons, enclosing gilt lettering 'RAAD KAMER VAN DEN HOVE VAN HOLLAND' in centre of upper cover, richly gilt spine in compartments. From the library of J. W. Six de Vromade with his bookplate. A handsome illustrated account of the seven wall-paintings and overmantels on themes of Roman history and mythology, devised by Gerard de Lairesse (1641-1711) for the Court of Justice council chamber at the Hague. This copy in the special presentation binding for the Court of Justice which was given to visiting dignitaries.Not in Berlin Katalog.
