Interesting work which investigates the marble and granite production in France. The author's chief concern was to list the different French stones, give their names, location of the quarry, colour and character, and suitability for artistic or architectural purposes. The work was written with a view to stop the steady increase of marble and granite imports from Italy and to rely more on native quarries.This is an off-print from the Annales des Mines, Vol. VIII, 1823.
