First edition. An illustrated account of the inscriptions and artefacts discovered in a cemetery near Rome in 1732, which the author, an Italian Jesuit, shows to be the burial place of an early Christian female martyr, Severa. He compares the artefacts found (bas-reliefs and pottery in a remarkable well state of preservation) with finds from a number of other places illustrating remains preserved at the Museo Victorio, the Museum Kircherianum, the collection of Francisco Vettori, and other institutions in Rome.The work was also issued under the variant title Dissertatio cronologica, paleographica, ecclesiastica in vetri graeca inscriptione minio conscripta Severae martyris epitaphium referenti; aliisque monumentis romae nuper refossis.Sommervogel V 188.
