Folio, pp. [22], with 9 litho plates after Antonio Dassi; alittle bit grubby, Ms. presentation by Uboldo to the Milanese painter Luigi Zuccoli (1815-1876) on title-page; Uboldo's dry monogram stamp at foot of title-page and on foot of each plate; in contemporary blue wrappers, spine perished. Presentation copy of the second edition of Uboldo's description of his collection of shields.Ambrogio Uboldo was a Milan banker who amassed a formidable collection of arms and armor which he had on display in his Villa Uboldo outside Milan. The catalogue of his collection of shield was originally published in 1840, in the same year he also published a description of some of the helmets in his collection. A close collaborator and adviser to the Uboldo collection was Carlo Zardetti, curator at the Brera in Milan.
