Lemgo, Meyer, 1817. 8vo, pp. xii, [4], 174, [1], with engraved dedication incorporating a large vignette, with contemporary colouring, 2 engraved plates, 2 aquatint plates, and very large engraved map (455 x 600 mm.), coloured with wash, at end; a very good, uncut copy in contemporary wrappers, rubbed. From the library of the politician Georg von Vincke (1811-75) with his ownership inscription and library label on title. First scarce, significantly enlarged monograph of the Spa town Bad Eilsen in Lower Saxony, famous for its sulphur and mud baths. The work was originally published with only 34 pages in 1810. The author was professor of drawing at the military academy at Bückeburg and spent much time investigating local discoveries of antiquities and medieval artefacts. There is also a close examination of the Hohenstein and its mineralogical make-up.
