First edition of Büchner’s posthumous papers, published by his younger brother Ludwig with a long biographical introduction. It contains the first appearance in book form of the comedy Leonce und Lena and the novella Lenz, and of letters to Büchner’s family and to his fiancée Minna Jaeglé. Of all Büchner’s works only Danton’s Tod (1835, printed here in second edition) was published before his death from typhoid at the age of 24. Woyzeck remained undiscovered until it was published by K. E. Franzos in 1879.Wilpert/Gühring 6.
